I purchased the Top Fin 10 gallon aquarium starter kit to set up my first tank. Overall, I am very satisfied with the quality and value. The tank is made of clear, durable plastic with no leaks or cracks. It came with an LED hood that provides great illumination over the entire tank. The included internal power filter keeps the water crystal clear and there is adjustable flow. I really like the natural gravel and decorations that were included - they provide a nice base for live plants. Setup was quick and easy following the instructions. I've had this tank running smoothly for over 6 months now. For a beginner aquarium at this price point, I definitely recommend Top Fin.
Oh my gosh, I ABSOLUTELY love the new 55 gallon aquarium I bought from Top Fin! The sleek black stand matches my furniture perfectly and the tank size gives me so much space for a robust community of tetra. The silicone seals are flawless and lighting makes the colors of my fish really pop. I chose the Top Fin canister filter which practically eliminates noise while keeping water parameters perfect. Setup was a breeze with the included siphon and conditioner. I'm overjoyed that I can watch my aquatic pets thrive in this gorgeous tank. Top Fin has every supply and accessory you could need for fresh or saltwater. I tell all my friends they won't find a better quality tank for the price. Two thumbs up!
I decided to try out the Top Fin 5 gallon aquarium kit since it was reasonably priced. While it functions fine, I was a bit let down by some aspects. The plastic trim is slightly warped in areas which detracts from the modern look. The filter that came with it rattles quite loudly. I'd recommend replacing it with a higher quality one. The LED light is nice and bright for a kit, but the hood doesn't seal well and allows some evaporation. The kit comes with basic gravel and decor which work well enough. Overall it's an okay starter tank for someone on a tight budget, but don't expect perfection. With some replacement parts it can be improved.
My friend told me I just had to check out the products from Top Fin for my new aquarium, so I took her advice and bought one of their 20 gallon starter bundles. Let me tell you, I have no regrets! This kit came with everything I needed - tank, stand, lid, light, filter, heater, net, water care solutions...the works! I love that the stand matches the trim and gives it a modern vibe. The setup directions were super clear and I had it going in no time. I've been really pleased with how easy it is to maintain good water quality too. The filter cartridges trap gunk before it clouds up the tank. And any time I have a question, the Top Fin experts are there to help. I'd say this is a fantastic starter tank, especially for aquascaping beginners like me.
Oh sure, I was pretty skeptical when my wife insisted we go with a Top Fin setup for the new betta tank instead of my intricately planned custom rig, but wow was I wrong! The brilliant engineers at Top Fin surely know more than me about how to create optimal aquatic habitats. I mean, the silicone seals alone are a modern marvel in how they prevent the tiniest water beads. And who needs fancy programmable lighting when the standard LEDs that come with the kit provide the perfect spectrum for photosynthesis? I concede that the affordable, convenient all-in-one kits from Top Fin are far superior for novices like myself who have no business trying to design their own high-tech systems. Lesson learned!

Setting Up My First Nano Tank with the Top Fin 3.5 Gallon I’ve always loved aquariums and kept thinking it would be so cool to have one of my own.
We recommend cleaning your Top Fin filter once every 2-4 weeks. Remove the cartridge and rinse it in old aquarium water to remove accumulated debris. Never use tap water, as it can kill beneficial bacteria. Replace cartridges as needed, typically every 1-2 months.
Start by washing the tank, decorations, substrate, and filter without soap. Assemble the tank on a flat, stable surface away from direct sunlight. Add the substrate, decor, filter, and heater as desired. Fill the tank slowly with dechlorinated water. Once it's filled, run the filter to clear any dust or debris. Then, you can add your fish!
Check for any beads of water on the outside seal. Also look for condensation or fogginess on the glass panels. Place paper towels around the tank and check if they become wet overnight. If you notice any of these signs, empty the tank completely to find and repair the leak.
A 5 gallon tank is ideal for housing a single betta. You could also keep small groups of tiny community fish like guppies, neon tetras, or celestial pearl danios. Make sure not to overstock the tank.
First make sure the vacuum is completely submerged in the water. Shake it gently to dislodge any trapped air bubbles. You can also try squeezing the bulb rapidly a few times. If it's still not starting, cover the intake with your finger while squeezing the bulb. Release your finger once the bulb is full to start the siphon.
Yes, artificial silk or plastic plants are safe additions to any freshwater aquarium. Make sure they have no sharp edges that could tear fins. Rinse them before adding to remove loose dye or debris. Live plants are also an option if you want more natural décor.
The Silentstream Power Filters are designed to operate with whisper-quiet performance. They offer the same great 5-stage filtration in a sound-dampening casing. The underwater filtration helps buffer noise.
All Top Fin power filters have an adjustable flow rate. Simply rotate the output nozzle to increase or decrease water flow as desired. Position it to provide circulation without disturbing fish.
Most likely these are copepods - tiny crustaceans that commonly hitchhike on live plants. They are harmless to fish and help break down waste. But if populations boom, reduce feeding for a few days. They typically don't require treatment.
Yes, fully submersible heaters are safe for plastic tanks. Place the heater horizontally near the filter outlet to maximize water flow. Use a thermometer to monitor temperature and adjust the heater accordingly. Never run a heater without water submerging the element.
