You'll want to wash your sheets at least once a week, or more frequently if you tend to sweat a lot at night. Washing helps keep your sheets fresh and removes dirt, oils, and bacteria that can build up over time. For best results, wash sheets in warm or hot water with a gentle detergent.
To keep Fieldcrest towels soft and fluffy for years to come, wash them in warm or hot water using a mild detergent. Avoid fabric softeners and bleach. Tumble dry on low and remove promptly from the dryer. For more absorbency, wash towels before first use.
Pilling happens from friction and abrasion during washing and everyday use. To minimize pilling, wash sheets and towels separately from heavier fabrics, turn them inside out before washing, and use a gentle detergent. When drying, don't overload the machine. Also, avoid excessive rubbing when making the bed or drying off with a towel.
Fieldcrest offers sheet sets with thread counts between 180 and 1000. In general, higher thread counts around 300-600 will provide softer, more durable sheets. Our 1000 thread count Egyptian cotton sheets are exceptionally soft and silky.
If your pillows are flat, you can fluff them up again in the dryer using tennis balls. Take off all pillow cases and place tennis balls inside the pillowcases together with the pillows. The tumbling and bouncing during drying will help re-loft the filling material. Dry on medium heat for about 20 minutes.
For best results, wash your comforter 2-3 times a year and follow the care instructions on the tag. In general, machine wash on a gentle cycle with cold water. Use mild detergent and skip the fabric softener. For drying, use low heat and remove promptly to prevent clumping.
It's normal for new cotton towels to shed some lint, especially after the first few washes. The lint is just excess cotton fibers that didn't get removed during manufacturing. Rest assured this shedding will decrease over time as you wash and dry your towels.
Treat stains on your sheets as soon as possible. For oil-based stains, apply dish soap, let sit for 10 minutes, then launder as usual. For dirt or makeup stains, try soaking in cold water first. For tough stains, make a paste with equal parts baking soda and water and gently rub onto the stain before washing.
With use over time, down or fiberfill inside a comforter can shift and cause lumps or flat spots. To fix this, put the comforter in the dryer on air fluff (no heat) and add a couple of clean tennis balls. The tumbling action will help redistribute the filling. Do this every few months.
For neat and compact towels, fold them in thirds. Start by placing the towel face down. Fold the top third down over the middle, then fold the bottom third up. This folding method allows the towels to stack evenly and minimize wrinkles.
